The sacred Boundaries of Madinah Munawwarah
Allâh's
Messenger said: "Madinah is sanctuary (Haram) from
Mount Ayr to Mount Thaur. Whoever innovates in it or Commits
a sin against Sharia (islamic law) or provides shelter to an
innovates, may the curse of Allâh, Angels and all
peoples be upon him and his worship or good deeds will not
be accepted by Allâh on the Day of Resurrection. (Sahih
Muslim H. No. 1370)
The distance between Mount Ayr and Mount Thaur is approximately 15 Kilometers. They are Boundaries of Madinah Munawwarah in the Northern and Southern Directions.
The Holy Prophet said: "I have made Madinah a sanctuary (Haram) between its Two Harrahs" and They are the Boundaries in the Eastern and Western Directions.
Eastern Harrah (Waqem Harra)
The name Harrah is given to that earth whose surface is Burnt with dark black stone having sharp edges. The eastern Harrah is the eastern Boundary of Haram-e-Madinah (Sanctuary).
Five tribes inhabited this area. Banu Nazir, a Jewish tribe inhabited at a place named Zohrah to the East of Quba. To the North of Banu Nazir, was Banu Quraizah, Then in the North and Northeast were Banu Zafar and Banu Ash'hal and in the North from these tribes, was a Town of Banu Haarisah.
Western Harrah (Wabrah Harra)
Western Harrah is the Western Boundary of Haram-e-Madinah as is mentioned in the Hadith, its North Eastern Direction was the residence of Tribe Banu Salemah. Masjid-e-Qiblatain is at this place. To its West was the Palace/ Fort of Hazrat Urwah his Famous well and Plantation. In the south Western Direction, is the Forrt Quba and Garden of Dates tree. The Jewish tribe Banu Qainuqa'a was populated around this Fort.
Mountain Ayr
This Mountain is the Southern Boundary of
Madinah sanctuary (Haram-e-Madinah) and second biggest
mountain of Madinah after Uhud.
Mountain Thaur
This Mountain is small and round in shape constitution of red rocks and is situated to the North of Mount Uhud. This Mountain is the Northern boundary of Haram-e-Madinah (Sanctuary) and 8 kilo meters away from Masjid Nabawiy. It is at a distance of 15 kilo meters from Mount Ayr. The area between these two Mountains is Haram of Madinah (Sanctuary).
